The Care Your Dog Deserves
Pip started the dog daycare back at her parents’ property in Carwoola in 2019 under the Pip’s Pet Sitting name. It quickly became hugely popular, however after a couple of years she was forced to close and find new premises from which to run it. In October 2022, after finally finding the perfect block in Fyshwick, Pip opened the Capital Paws Dog Daycare.
Here, at Capital Paws, we ensure that your dog receives top-quality care for optimum development of their socialisation skills in a safe and secure environment.
You can rest assured that the dogs are always supervised and have their needs understood and taken care of. We believe rest is hugely
important in a daycare setting, and so we provide two nap sessions daily to avoid overstimulation and/or overexertion.
The yard is full of a variety of sensory experiences (fake grass, real grass, gravel, tanbark, giant sandpit etc.), shade and shelter, as well as enrichment activities and even a huge splash pool!
We pride ourselves on caring for each individual dog as if they were our own and on providing a fun environment for all the different doggo personalities we encounter.
Daily care for your loved dogs while you're at work or away.

Pip’s Pet Sitting provides experienced, insured, qualified, and registered care for any and all pets in the ACT and surrounding NSW. From cats and dogs to horses and birds – we love them all! We offer boutique dog and cat boarding; once or twice daily visits to your residence; and occasional housesitting.
All dogs must be up to date with their C5 or equivalent vaccinations, as well as internal and external parasite prevention. We will need a copy of their vaccination history/certificate as proof of this.
We do accept entire/intact males and females - if their behaviour is not affected - however we do not allow females to attend for the duration of their heat cycle.
Age is of no importance, but puppies must have had their full 3 rounds of vaccinations and boosters (at the C5 level or equivalent) before attending. We require dogs to be friendly to both people & other dogs (timidity and shyness is fine!), with no history of aggression or fights. We do not accept dogs who exhibit risky play methods, excessive barking, humping, snapping, or other such unwanted behaviours.
Please note that we crate the dogs during drop off and pick up times so that they are safe and secure whilst the gates are open and people are coming in and out, and so your dog will need to be used to being in a crate and/or crate trained.
We do both! If you want to have a look at the premises and meet the owner to ask any questions you may have, then we hold meet and greets on weeknights from 4pm (to avoid disrupting the daycare dogs). Please message us to book in a half hour meet and greet on a weeknight that suits you, and you can definitely bring your dog along!
We then ask that all new dogs attend a Trial Day, which are held on Fridays. This is a full day of daycare where we closely monitor and assess your dog for their suitability to daycare and to our specific premises. We then discuss the results with you upon pickup.
Our main aim for the day is for your dog to have fun whilst staying safe! We do this by ensuring constant supervision for your dogs by capable handlers and trainers.
During drop off (8-9:30am) we individually crate all dogs for comfort and security whilst the main gates are open and people are coming and going. After 9:30am, we close the main gates and bring the dogs into the outside run for a mix of socialisation, free play, games, training and those oh-so-important rest periods to prevent over-stimulation and over-exertion.
The outdoor run features a giant sandpit, huge splash pool, kennels, beds, toys, shelter and shade. At 4pm, it's back inside and crated for pickup (4-5:30pm). If the weather is especially bad (extreme heat or storms), we bring the dogs into the indoor run to continue their day of fun in comfort.
We upload HEAPS of photos and videos all day to our Instagram and Facebook
stories for our clients to keep up to date on what/how their pup is doing.
At present, we have the owner and 3 staff. Each day sees anywhere. Between 10-30
dogs, and between 1-3 dog handlers. We are currently also developing our huge back area into more runs!
We aim to have at least 2 staff members present each day if there are more than 15 dogs, and will increase this to 3 and then 4 per day, as the number of dogs increases and we open more runs.
Pip grew up on a farm where she owned and trained her animals from as young as 4 years old. Frequently described as ‘a natural with animals’ and even ‘an animal whisperer’ by others, she regularly looked after neighbours’ and family friends’ animals and houses as a little hobby on the side of attending a French School and working at Sportsman’s Warehouse on weekends.
After completing year 12, she undertook a Bachelor of Equine (Animal) Science at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, where she learnt in-depth about all aspects of all animals, especially horses. Upon graduation, she worked as an Office Manager at a chiropractor before becoming a sales assistant at Hiscocks Saddlery in Queanbeyan for 3 years.
In 2019, after breaking her ankle in a horse fall at a show, Pip took the plunge into operating her pet sitting business full-time, which is now over 5 years old! She started the dog daycare aspect of the business at the start of Covid-19, when the demand for dog daycare skyrocketed. After a few years of operating it at her family property, she has now started up the Fyshwick facility and is loving every second of it. Pip owns 2 dogs of her own who frequently attend daycare with her: Schooner the 11 year old female Border Collie x Kelpie x Blue Heeler, and Maya the 1 year old female Border Collie x Kelpie.
We do!
Mondays are our ‘Quiet Days’, for our more timid and shy dogs who need a bit of help coming out of their shells.
Thursdays are our ‘Fun Days’ (though every day here is fun!) for the more rambunctious and energetic dogs who run around a lot and play exuberantly.
Fridays are our ‘New Dog Days’ so that we can carefully monitor and assess new dogs on their trial day. Then Tuesdays and Wednesdays are our unspecified days, for any and all dogs.
